Summary
"In this poignant memoir, Kenneth Farmer describes what it was like to lose his older brother and only sibling, Lee, to paranoid schizophrenia, something that was all the more troublesome, given that he was Kenneth's de facto dad and only source of respite in a family already beset by dysfunction. Eventually, Lee becomes a different person--grandiose, delusional, hallucinatory, and even violent--and Kenneth and his father are forced to initiate commitment proceedings, even though Lee's mother adamantly opposes this. Yet the family's troubles don't end with the commitment, for now they must cope with the devastating long-term fallout of the disease, with little help from the system and no hope that their loved on will ever get better."--Back cover
