Summary
In 1934, after his spectacular escape from Lake County Jail in Indiana, John Dillinger was nowhere to be found-- some claimed to spot him in New York, others in London, New Orleans, or California. Though FBI agents would eventually track him down and kill him outside a movie theater in Chicago, speculation on what really happened during Dillinger's final months of freedom never waned. In this suspenseful account, Jack Higgins speculates that he made a desperate escape to Mexico, where he found himself face-to-face with bloodthirsty bandits as well as corrupt police officers
