Summary
Nagasaki and Me is the story of a drunken, licentious, young American man who discovers personal significance in an event which occurred generations before his birth. His revelation is possible because he lives and loves in a place where it happened: the mass killing of civilians with an atomic bomb. As he teaches English, drinks to great excess, and pursues his sexual appetites, he senses the innocence of those dead in the faces of the now living that share the same hope as those long-ago victims of the bomb.To live without war
